Spandan, a NGO headed by Adv. Ashish Shelar is all set to celebrate the 87th birth anniversary of legendary Bollywood Singer Mohammad Rafi, at Rangsharda Auditorium, Bandra on 24th December. The celebrations this year include an awards night which would acknowledge outstanding contribution to Hindi film music and so also a musical extravaganza of Mohammad Rafi Songs which would also offer a tribute to Bollywood icons Dev Anand and Shammi Kapoor.
Amongst the prominent winners this year is Veteran Music Director Ravi and Veteran Singer Shailendra Singh of "Main Shaayar Toh Nahi" fame. Shahnawaz Hussain, Ex-cabinet Minister, Government of India is expected to do the honours at this exclusive evening.
Speaking on this occasion, Adv. Ashish Shelar emphasized that Music is a universal language and food for the soul. He further observed that Mohammad Rafi
was king of hearts and his songs would continue to give tremendous joy and listening pleasure for generations to come.
Spandan, headed by Adv. Ashish Shelar has always been at the forefront of social initiatives and their documentary on the Mumbai Floods and so also on the problems faced by Mumbai Textile Mill Workers in particular have been very well appreciated and applauded.
